Each category rewards a different kind of excellence. Read the criteria carefully — the best nominations are the ones that fit the category they're written for.

Best Employee by Department

Individual · 10 awards

What it recognises

An employee who consistently delivers exceptional results and elevates their team's performance.

Who may nominate

Peers, supervisors and Heads of Department. Self-nomination is allowed.

Assessment criteria

  • Safety behaviour and awareness
  • Quality of work
  • Quantity of work
  • Demonstration of core values
  • Collaboration and teamwork
  • Willingness to take on extra responsibility
  • Punctuality and use of time

Category SE

Safety Excellence Award

Zero Harm Award

Individual or team

What it recognises

Individual or team behaviour that put Zero Harm into everyday practice.

Who may nominate

Anyone who has witnessed the safety contribution first-hand.

Assessment criteria

  • Clear, proactive safety intervention
  • Measurable reduction in risk or incidents
  • Evidence of adoption by peers or the wider mine
  • Alignment with the Zero Harm principle

Category IE

Innovation Excellence Award

Bright ideas that moved the mine

Individual or team

What it recognises

A demonstrable innovation with real impact on how the mine works.

Who may nominate

Any Asanko employee.

Assessment criteria

  • Originality of the idea
  • Practicality and successful implementation
  • Efficiency, cost, or productivity gains
  • Scalability to other teams or sites

Category JZ

Joe Zvaipa Excellence Award

Most Outstanding Employee

Individual

What it recognises

The single most outstanding employee of the year.

Who may nominate

Not open to direct nomination — selected by the committee.

Assessment criteria

  • Exceptional performance across all High Performer criteria
  • Broad organisational impact beyond the immediate team
  • Embodiment of the Asanko values
Not open to direct nomination — the committee selects from among the High Performer winners.

Best Contractor Employee

A contractor who consistently exceeds what their contract requires.

Who may nominate

Any Asanko or contractor employee.

  • Consistent excellence beyond contractual scope
  • Positive impact on Asanko operations
  • Strong safety and values alignment

Safety Hazard Identification Champion

HID Champion — Asanko & Contractor

What it recognises

Vigilance that keeps colleagues safe day in, day out.

Who may nominate

Any Asanko or contractor employee.

Assessment criteria

  • Volume of hazard identifications submitted
  • Quality and relevance of each HID
  • Follow-through to full closure
  • Consistency across the nomination window

Rising Star Award

Within the first three years

Who may nominate

Peers, supervisors, and Heads of Department.

  • Rapid growth in skill and responsibility

The Unsung Hero Award

Quietly holding it all together

Reliability, humility and consistency behind the scenes.

Who may nominate

Peers only — self-nomination is not allowed for this category.

Assessment criteria

  • Consistent reliability over time
  • Impact on operations even though rarely visible
  • Humility and willingness to help others succeed

Community & Sustainability Impact

For our communities and environment

What it recognises

Work that strengthens our licence to operate.

Who may nominate

Any Asanko employee.

Assessment criteria

  • Strength of community or environmental outcome
  • Sustainability of the change
  • Alignment with Asanko's ESG commitments

People's Choice Award

Chosen by the whole company

What it recognises

The colleague the workforce most wants to celebrate.

Who may nominate

Voting opens after shortlisting.
